Chatbots: Rule-Based Vs. AI-Powered Chatbots

Chatbots are incredibly important in the modern digital world for conducting business. By automatically communicating with the clients, they have transformed customer support services and are changing the game.

Digifame, an agency providing digital marketing services in Chandigarh, sheds light on the concept of chatbots, their types and their resourcefulness.

Chatbots:- A chatbot is a computer program that simulates human interaction by responding to questions and offering advice to users automatically. It functions as a virtual agent that converses with people to deliver information and respond to their questions.

Types of Chatbots:

There are two main methods for creating chatbots:

1. Chatbots with rules

2. AI-driven chatbots.

Rule-Based vs. AI-Powered Chatbots:-

1. Rule-Based Chatbots (i). Meaning:- Rule-based chatbots operate according to a preset set of guidelines that were produced by human developers. These established guidelines determine how the chatbot will react to particular user inputs.

(ii). Advantages:-

1. Concise and easy: Because all potential user inputs and their accompanying replies are already established, rule-based chatbots are simple to build and execute.

2. Control: The chatbot's behavior is entirely under the control and authority of the developers, ensuring that the predetermined rules are adhered to and that the replies are uniform.

(iii). Limitations:-

1. Rule-based chatbots do not grasp natural language, which makes it challenging for them to respond to complicated questions or carry on lengthy discussions.

2. Limited scope: The user may become frustrated if a chatbot is unable to deliver a good response to a query that falls outside of the stated criteria.

2. AI-Powered Chatbots: (i). Meaning:- Artificial intelligence and machine learning techniques are used by chatbots that are driven by AI to comprehend user input and reply appropriately. They are also referred to as conversational chatbots or NLP chatbots.

(ii). Advantages:-

1. Recognizing context and intent: AI-powered chatbots are able to analyse user input, spot trends, decipher meaning, and deliver precise replies.

2. Complexity handling: By participating in conversational conversations and providing flexibility and adaptation, chatbots are able to tackle difficult enquiries.

(iii). Limitations:-

1. Training and data requirements: AI-powered chatbots need a lot of training and data to perform at their best, which takes a lot of time and resources.

2. prejudice risk: There is a chance that the training data will contain prejudice, which might affect the chatbot's replies and have unexpected repercussions that harm reputations.

In the end, rule-based and AI-powered chatbots may both be deemed to assist organisations, according to Digifame, an SEO firm in Chandigarh. Rule-based chatbots are suited for performing simple tasks and are relatively easy to deploy. They also offer greater control. Conversely, chatbots that are driven by AI can answer complicated inquiries and have superior conversational engagement and context awareness. Both kind of chatbots are useful and equally important in their own right.
